I have been looking at a lot of wheels lately, so I just want to know what your guys' choices are
Here are the ones I want. Gram Lights 57xtreme, my one and true love.
Unlike women though(you know, for obvious reasons), it is a good idea to have a back up plan if they plan to stop selling the wheel, or in my case, sent over a limited amount(17x9s are rare mofo). So the back up plan is Work Emotion CR Kai

I'd like to stick TE37's (or Rota Grids (I don't track, so it won't be bad)) on the Ralliart. Back up plan is the RPF1's.

The price on brand new TE37s make my eyes and wallet hurt. Rotas aren't bad now, so even if you do track the car you should be good.

For what car?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:15 |

Well, I settled on these because of value for money and light weight...
Given no budget? I'd go with these:
I like simple, symmetrical designs. The lighter the better.

I would love these:
Year One's billet Snowflake rims. 18"x10." The cheap set costs over $3,000 but if you want 12" wide rims it will cost you $2000 more. https://www.yearone.com/Product/speed-…

But those would look so awesome! Are you planning to get these, or is it going to be a cheaper alternative? Plus. . . why so expensive?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:19 |
|
So these wheels probably cost about 1/3 of the price of my car?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:20 |

The SRT-6's rims are damn nice and obviously keep the stock staggered look. But in all honestly it will probably never happen.
Mine for sake of comparison.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:21 |

How much are OZs? I can't imagine them being more than RPF1s can they?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:22 |

Those specific ones? I'll ballpark at around 10k or so.
Or these.

I like to think of TE37's as investments. They'll never decrease in price, and you'll always have some kid on some forum who will buy them.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 19:22 |

You might also wants to consider Enkei PF01. Similar to CR Kai and 57xtreme + cheaper!

Almost $1700 for a set of 4. That was way more than I wanted to spend at the time.
Back then I wanted to (and have) put my winter WS-70's on my stock wheels and buy a lighter wheel for the summer. The Enkie Tuning Fujin's I got were about $900 for a full set. 18.8lb Enkie vs. 17.2lb O.Z. The Enkie's were almost half as much and were a big weight savings over the 24.6lb stock wheel.

Forgeline Zx3 - they build them to order so I can get the right offset for the rears on the Shoe.

Ha! There's no way in hell I could afford those (they cost more than I paid for my car). I don't know why they are so expensive. I am seriously on the hunt for a set of these: Factory WS6 snowflake rims (what my car came with from the factory). They are 15"x8" and I am trying to find a set for under $200 which is quite a task. I bought a set of 7" wide ones for $40 but the 8" wide ones are a lot more rare.

I'm going with the cliche Miata wheel because it is a damn good wheel and the company is local to my hometown. . . .
Here, a silver NB with black 6UL's. I'd be happy with those and a black HT and the windshield header painted black.
This is the best pic of a silver NB with black 6UL's I could find.

I've got a couple that I want for mine. Enkei 92s, Borbet Type A or T and Ronal Turbo's. All are relatively popular for e30s but not all are easy to find. The Enkeis are being made again. The Ronals are fairly rare and definitely expensive.
Enkei 92. Someone nearby is selling a set. I believe they're 16s and I wanted to go for 15s. The price is nice though so I might snap them up.
Borbet Type T. A set is for sale on a local BMW forum but they're 16 x 9 which is both bigger and wider than I was looking to go.
Borbet Type A.
Ronal Turbo
These are all wheels that are more style oriented; for performance a set of RPF1 would always be good.

I personally am pretty happy with the current Ronal R8's. They've such a great pedrigree to them and are actually incredibly hard to find these days, as they haven't been produced in over a decade.
However, were I to ever go to a larger wheel, I've been looking pretty hard at these...

These wheels are pretty much the best bang for your buck. Strong, cheap, and light. Although, I wish they had a bit more sexiness.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:32 |

Work makes some nice wheels but they are so expensive. I hate myself for liking their designs.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:34 |

I want something like a mix of all of them.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:36 |

I actually did concider those, but they don't make it in the size I want. . . which sucks cause they are so much cheaper(with really good quality as well).
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:36 |

I am assuming you own an E30. If you do, these are the perfect wheel for them!

![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:43 |

Those are some heavy stock wheels. Mine are about 21lbs, which is actually pretty good. Enkei is pretty much the best company when it comes to wheels, cheap, fairly light, and pretty strong. Whats not to love?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:44 |

All the nice wheels are super expensive :(
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:47 |

I don't know why, but I feel like the Trans Am is the only car that could pull that style of wheel off.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:48 |
|
A bit of it is the brand name but these are also forged and carry some heavy certifications.
Are they worth more than your TE37s or what have you? Not sure.
But once we reach 3k on a set of rims I'm ready to go into the HRE territory without hesitation.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:49 |

I accept this choice, it is most excellent! Go! And obtain them!
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:49 |

The style totally suits the car!
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:51 |

Its cliche because it is the perfect design for the car.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:53 |

Nooooooo! TSWs are awesome wheels plus they aren't too bad on the wallet. I recommend saving up.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:53 |
|
Does anyone make replicas?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:54 |
|
The FR-S is a 215/45R17 right? That's a smaller wheel. 24.6lb isn't awful for a 18" stock wheel (225/40R18). It's not great, but it's not bad. 21lb seems pretty good for a stock 17". Still on the heavy side for the size, but better than mine for sure.
I agree, Enkei is about the best value out there for an every day wheel. It did well this summer with the crap roads I drive on.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:55 |
|
Jeep Cherokees and Fox Body Mustangs look good with them too. I want to put a spare set on my blue Blazer. They would look terrible on your FR-S though.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:56 |
|
my only beef is that you can only find them used, and good ones cost about a grand. But you do get good tires usually at that price.... and it would be my 3rd set of wheels...
Have you looked into any replicas of that style? or are they all cheapy reps?
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:58 |
|
Don't lie to me, you really want wheels. I know you do, I KNOW YOU BETTER THAN YOU KNOW YOURSELF!!!
![]() 11/03/2013 at 20:58 |
|
Some wheels look good with concavity, those look awesome without it!
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:05 |
|
That's exactly what I thought. I was just casually looking for wheels, found these and they're the ones I need.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:05 |
|
Design really helps too. A sexy wheel is always going to cost more even if the weight and the strength are the same.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:06 |
|
There are Chinese knockoff of the Gram Lights, which I don't feel safe buying, and I Enkei makes similar wheels to the Work, but not in the size I want.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:07 |
|
I guess when you're dealing with 200-300k cars, 2-5% of the MSRP is nothing to add on for great looking wheels.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:09 |
|
What is this for? Also, that is a serious lip.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:11 |
|
True, plus those exotics usually have some massive wheels, which may also factory into the price.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:18 |
|
I would save and get the TSW's, but they don't have the right finish for my car.. The MSR's however...
I love that finish, and for the
price
I've heard they are great wheels. Mind you, I'm not tracking on these wheels, because if I ever was, I'd get the TSW's.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:19 |

Mesh style is so damn sexy.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:21 |

Yeah, i wouldnt buy the shady china knockoffs. Id shoot enkei an email to see if its possible if they'd be able to make a set for you? Longshot? probably, but an email couldnt hurt.
![]() 11/03/2013 at 21:24 |

Yeah probably, although I am sure if enough people have an interest they can persuaded to make them.

But it's $4,000 for the set! There are a set of wheels from American Racing that I really liked, but I can't find them in the catalogue u.u

No clue, although it does come in 5 and 6 spoke, and sizes from 15in up to 26in, so probably tuners and donks. I think with a coat of black plastidip they'd look great on my wife's Mazda3.
